  • Takes high-quality photos for print and digital publications.

  • Conducts interviews and communicates with supervisors remotely.

  • Fact-checks features for Eater, in the Vox Media Network. Offers copywriting, editing and research services to publications and mission-driven organizations.

Lookout Santa Cruz, News fellow, Sept. 2021 – Oct. 2021

  • Wrote breaking news and features for Santa Cruz's new digital media startup.

  • Covered everything from policing in schools and responses to homelessness to domestic violence and city politics.

KGW-TV (Portland’s NBC affiliate), Election SOS Fellow, Oct. 2020 – Dec. 2020

  • Selected as one of 39 fellows (out of almost 500 applicants) to help newsrooms respond to critical election information needs.

  • Countered misinformation about the electoral process and the COVID-19 vaccines by writing web stories and TV segments for “The Story with Dan Haggerty”— a nightly local news show that tells news like you would tell your friends.

  • Updated and expanded KGW’s voter guide, monitored online platforms for news tips and did research for award-winning investigative journalists.

NPR Next Generation Radio at Oregon Public Broadcasting, July 2020

  • Selected to participate in competitive program taught by leading public radio professionals.

  • Produced a multimedia package about impact of COVID-19 on local community.

KBOO Community Radio, News volunteer, May 2020 – Present   

  • Identify relevant local, national and international news stories, with emphasis on community politics.

  • Write news copy for the nightly volunteer-produced news program.

The Pioneer Log, Editor-in-Chief, May 2019 – May 2020

  • Led Lewis & Clark’s student-run newspaper with a staff of 45 contributors and 18 editors by holding weekly pitch meetings, trainings in AP style and journalistic ethics, and overseeing the editorial process.

  • Edited 100 articles per month and reviewed the design of each issue.

  • Expanded coverage into the Portland community and raised standards for investigative reporting.

  • Revamped website and social media model. 

  • Launched The PioPod, a current events podcast.

  • Rose to leadership position after serving as Copy Chief, News Editor and Staff writer during college career. In these roles I developed trusted sources, broke news, and delivered enterprise and quick-turn-around stories.

Vietnamese Portland Podcast Series, Host & Producer, May 2019 – May 2020

  • Wrote, hosted and edited 5 episodes sharing stories of Portland’s Vietnamese American community with Lewis & Clark’s Special Collections Department.

  • Pulled together stories from oral histories from 60+ Vietnamese Americans, arranging them thematically into episodes. 

  • Used Adobe Audition to edit episodes.

  • Funded by a $10,000 grant from The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).

The Meridian Journal of International & Cross-Cultural Perspectives, Editor-in-Chief, May 2019 – May 2020

  • Presided over a 9-member editorial staff at Lewis & Clark by holding writing workshops and coordinating editing.

  • Remodeled the editorial process to give editors and contributors a taste of scholarly review procedures.

  • Designed a 40+ page journal on Adobe inDesign.

Lewis & Clark Public Affairs and Communications, PR Assistant, Jan 2019 – Aug. 2019

  • Wrote news and feature articles about Lewis & Clark students and faculty for the school’s newsroom. 

  • Pitched stories to outside media sources, selectively targeting reporters and sending out press releases.

  • Wrote news and feature articles for Bend Magazine.

  • Pitched stories by immersing myself in the community and establishing connections.
